Sound Tech to Enhance Live Comedy with Jonny Woolley (Day 2)
Are you an aspiring live comedy tech? A comedian wanting to buff out your tech understanding? Or just trying a new skill in the arts? Look no further than our two-day Comedy Tech Course hosted by renowned comedy director and clown-tech Jonny Woolley.
Jonny is a Gaullier graduate and co-founder of Stamptown, the alternative production company innovating the live comedy scene with their global perspective and raucous energy. He directed hits “Stamptown Comedy Night”, “Jack Tucker: Comedy Stand-Up Hour”, “Zach and Viggo: Thunderflop”, “Josh Glanc: Glanc You For Having Me” and more, during which he used innovative tech to live-direct the shows. He has worked with David Cross, Reuben Kaye, Jordan Gray, and more, and sound-designed several hit Edinburgh Fringe and Soho Theatre shows such as Julia Masli’s “Choosh!”.
In this course, you will learn practical skills, including building Q-Lab workspaces, finding sounds, and comedic timing for cues, as well as soft skills like effectively communicating with comedians to help develop their show through tech.
DAY ONE (February 11th): Practical Skills
DAY TWO (February 18th): Skills in Practice (with a special comedian guest TBA)
This course is accessible for all skill levels. It is encouraged to bring your own laptop with QLab installed.
